Harris County High School Band Program
The Harris County High School Band Program provides students with opportunities to grow as musicians, performers, leaders, and teammates. Through concert ensembles, marching band, colorguard, percussion, and other performance opportunities, students develop discipline, responsibility, confidence, and pride.

More Than Music
Participation in band challenges students to work toward a common goal, manage their time, support one another, and perform with excellence. The program is built on teamwork, commitment, school pride, and a shared love of music.
HCHS Band Programs
Concert Bands
Students participate in curricular concert ensembles during the school day and receive academic credit. Ensemble placement may be based on grade level, instrumentation, director recommendation, or audition.
Marching Band
The Sound of the County Marching Band is an extracurricular ensemble that rehearses after school and performs at football games, community events, exhibitions, and marching competitions during the fall.
Colorguard
Colorguard is the visual section of the marching band. Members use flags, dance, movement, and other visual equipment to bring the marching production to life.
Percussion
Percussion students may participate in the marching battery, front ensemble, concert percussion, and other percussion activities throughout the year.
Indoor Percussion
Indoor percussion is a competitive winter and spring activity combining percussion performance, movement, staging, and theatrical design.
Additional Opportunities
Additional ensembles and performance opportunities may be offered based on student interest, staffing, instrumentation, and the school-year schedule.
The Sound of the County Experience
Students build technical skill, musical understanding, and performance confidence.
Students learn to lead, follow, communicate, and contribute to a larger team.
Rehearsals and performances teach preparation, consistency, and accountability.
Students form lasting friendships and represent HCHS throughout the community.
