Harris County High School Band Programs
Band Director
Dr. Christopher Libby
Dr. Christopher Libby earned his D.M.E. from Liberty University, a Master’s degree from Georgia College and State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Georgia State University, where he studied trumpet and received the Steve Winnick Scholarship. He has over 18 years of experience as a music educator, including eight years as Director of Bands at Manchester High School in Meriwether County, and currently serves as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Warm Springs.
Dr. Libby currently serves in the Georgia Army National Guard with 20 years of service. He is a warrant officer with the 116th Army Band, where he serves as the executive officer and assistant conductor. His notable performances include the national anthem at Atlanta Braves games and “Taps” during the Braves’ 20th anniversary tribute to September 11th.

Stephanie Darlington
Stephanie Darlington is currently in her eighth year teaching at HCHS and fourth year with the band. She has a passion for working with students and strives to see each student reach his or her full potential. Mrs. Darlington is married to her high school sweetheart, Ricky Darlington, and they have three children together.

Toni Tharp
Toni Tharp is the Band Director at Harris County Carver Middle School. She is from Phenix City, Alabama, and went to Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music earning a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in December 2023. She loves band and is very excited for this new chapter in her professional career. She lives in Columbus, Georgia with her husband, Brandon, and their two beloved cats, Gandalf and Winni. She also serves as Assistant Band Director for the HCHS Marching Band.

Additional Instructional Staff
The Harris County band programs are supported by additional instructors who provide specialized teaching in percussion, colorguard, visual performance, music instruction, and other areas throughout the year.
PERCUSSION dIRECTOR
MATT SELLERS
Matt Sellers is a Harris County native and marched with the HCHS Marching Band from 2000-2004. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Maggie Nell, and they have four children ages 5-16. Matt is an HCHS alum and graduated from Georgia Southern University with a BBA in Accounting with a minor in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Accounting. He has been a CPA with Robinson Grimes & Company in Columbus since 2008 where is the head of the tax department.
Matt is honored to serve as the Percussion Director for the Sound of the County Marching Band and hopes that his involvement with the program will help students grow as musicians and members of their community.
